Bill Bonds died in March 2003. After completing a B.A. at Johns Hopkins University, teaching Latin and English in Midlothian VA, and earning a Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylviania, he had a distinguished career as a scholar, professor, and deparmental chair of classical studies at Sewanee Univerity, TN. He struggled for many years with a disease he described as "so rare they did not know if it would kill him." As I understand, he taught until the day of his death. More information is available on the internet, in partlcular the Sewanee U website. The University has named a room in the library in his memory.
