John Quick

John Thomas Quick, Jr., 77 of Powhatan, Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Henrico Virginia from complications of dementia.

Born in Richmond, Virginia on January 23, 1947, to the late John T Quick and Margaret Harris Quick.  He was also predeceased by a brother, William Harris Quick.

John was raised in Henrico, John graduated from Hermitage High School and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the U. S. Army.  John’s career was spent in the service fields working as a Richmond City police officer, Henrico County firefighter, and numerous automotive service positions, going on to retire from Richmond City as a 911 dispatcher.

Survivors include his son, James P. Quick; daughter Lindsey C. Quick of Powhatan, Virginia; a sister Margaret “Peggy” Q. Sapp (Bobby) of Coppell, Texas; and a”rother, Kenneth R. Quick of Williamsburg, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville, Road, Amelia, Virginia 23002  at a time to be determined.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.

Johnny and I lived next door all our childhood. What a wonderful time that was, with a wooded are for riding bikes and building forts. All the parents watched out for all the kids and everyone got along famously. I'll never forget Johnny's curly red hair! My sympathy goes out to his loved ones
