WRIGHT, Donald Wayne, 67, a native of Richmond, went to be with the Lord December 27, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Bonnie Melton Wright; stepson, Douglas Ratliff and his wife, Shannon; three grandchildren, Jordan, Lauren and Dalton (they called him PaPaw and he loved it). He served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Hermitage High School and attended the University of Richmond. Donald was the original bass guitar player for Ron Moody and the Centaurs. He was employed by AT Services. He loved to cook and always added his own personal touch to the recipes. He was an avid fisherman and loved birds. He loved being with his family and friends, and never met a stranger. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Pl., Glen Allen, Va. 23060 or Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9400 Redbridge Rd., Richmond, Va. 23236.

I was deeply saddend to learn of "Brother Don's" death. Don and I grew up together. He, Chip Newton and I got into more "stuff" than I like to recall. My first double date was with Don and his girl and me and mine in his dad's 57 Chevy. Mr. Wright was very genereous with that car as long as we were doubling. We play music together before the Centaurs with Wayne Duncan (Baker) and a bunch of different guys.  Don and I sort of lost touch the last few years and I regret it deeply now. He was a great guy, a true gentleman, and a wonderful friend. Rest in piece my Brother.
