BOYKIN, Cheryl Donahue, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 13, 2018. Cheryl was predeceased by her mother, Mary Ivy Lassiter; and stepfather, Floyd Lassiter. Cheryl is survived by her loving children, Laura and Larry Boykin; her sister and her niece, Fran Patterson and Amy Jones; her ex-husband and friend, Roger Boykin; as well as her many cherished friends. Cheryl worked for the phone company from Ma Bell through Verizon and was active in their Pioneers' association. Cheryl was also an active advocate for children and adults with special needs and served briefly on the Hanover County Human Services Board. A memorial service in her honor will be held at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden's Robins Room on Sunday, January 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Special Olympics of Virginia or to any worthy cause that she would support.
