William “Bill” Bernard Walker, IV, 77, of Richmond VA, entered into eternal rest with his Lord on August 19, 2024, in Hanover, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents, William B. Walker, III and Audrey Mae Hatton Walker. He is survived by Deborah “Debbie” Williams Walker; his son, William Bernard Walker, V; his sister, Barbara Walker Coombs (David); his niece, Sarah Coombs (Chris); his nephews, Jason Coombs and Alex Coombs; sister-in-law, Darlene Williams Bintz; his nephews, Eddie Ray Payne (Amy) and Ryan Payne; and other great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Bill lived in the Richmond area his entire life. He graduated from Hermitage High School where he excelled in track and field. After high school, he received an associate’s degree in business management from Smithdeal Massey Business College. He was a member of the Phi Theta Pi Fraternity and remained active for 54 years. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves before he entered his professional career.
Bill began his management career working at Mallory’s Speed Shop, one of the earliest high performance auto parts shops on the East coast. He went on to become Branch Manager of American Specialty Equipment Corp. which was one of the top ten wholesale warehouses for aftermarket auto parts in the U.S. and covered most of the East coast.
After leaving American Specialty, Bill went on to work for Haynes Jeep as wholesale parts manager. Following his time at Haynes Jeep, he went on to become part of the Crossroads Automotive Group for 16 years. Not only was he valued as an exceptional employee but also for being an honorable and dependable man. He was the driving force that helped create and develop one of the largest wholesale auto parts departments on the east coast.
Bill was a man of deep faith. He loved his Lord and was always eager to share the Gospel in a nurturing way with those seeking understanding of the Lord and His ways. He had a gentle demeanor, always wanting to be of service to others, but first and foremost, his desire was to serve the Lord. He exemplified what it was to be a Christian man through his actions, words, and deeds. Those who knew Bill, always spoke of his kindness, thoughtfulness and integrity. He will be missed beyond measure by his loved ones, but there is no doubt he has gone to his Heavenly Home and his Lord.
The family will receive friends at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond, VA 23228, on Tuesday, August 27th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A service will be held at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., on Wednesday, August 28th at 1pm. Interment will follow service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
